Aidpage Open Letter: Homeless means no place to sleep in Salem Oregon

To the attention of:

Homeless People In Salem Oregon Are On A Merry-Go-Round.

What is a Homeless person, are their needs the same as ours, Can they really find work?

Hello, I am the founder of Reach 4 Salem; being homeless for over three years and I feel blessed by God. I have seen situations of hopelessness’; theft, bodily harm, hunger, sickness, lack of money for x-rays, operations, prescriptions and a place to sleep. Not all Homeless People drink or take drugs or are bad, most are only trying to survive. Other Homeless people would love to find work and get out of the streets.

Living in the street is not easy, you are forced to carry your necessities in your back pack or have them stolen. Ride a bicycle or walk, live in a tent, under an awning or cardboard, inside an abandon car, walk all night to keep warm. The Homeless people can not get a job without the proper clothing, transportation, resume, shower or clean clothes.  I have two part time jobs and still I have to sleep in my car. Both of my part time jobs do not have a consistent pay-check every two weeks to cover rent and pay bills.

Finding a job is getting harder in our economy today, even if you have reliable transportation, daily shower, groomed and proper clean clothing. The employment centers are very over crowded, and so are the temp agencies. Anybody can become homeless, especially if you are living from paycheck to paycheck. I do not fly a sigh although I know plenty of Homeless that do. Flying a sigh is very long and tedious work. It is an all day job, or normally you have enough for your purpose or it’s the necks Homeless persons turn. Then you have the scammers in the parking lot or in the stores that gives you a story, this is illegal. Then you have some of the Homeless with a cell phone these people are usually users (hooked on drugs). So how do you know witch person flying a sign; is in need of basic needs such as, rent, gas, food, or a drink? You would have to get to know them.

Who can help the Homeless to get off the streets and into a job? The basic need of a Homeless person is shelter, sleeping bag, underwear, socks and shoes. Food is supplied from Shelters, or what we call an outside feeding, put on by Churches, and Organizations.

The Homeless are everywhere; we see, hear, help and, protect each other. Being Homeless is a no win situation with out help. The Homeless need help that will create jobs such as a civilian training camp that can help our economy by bringing back Mom and Pop stores. www.reach4salem.orghas the formula. Thank you Very much Dave

Childs Help 1 reply

If Reach 4 Salem was fully functional it would help the Homeless with clothing, food, job placement, transportation and, a place to stay. I would suggest finding a food box Church or Salvation Army food box center for help. To find one, you would only have to visit the same place you receive your food stamp card, Human Resources, and they would give you a list of helping agencies. Also with children, you would only have to ask your case worker for help. Thank You http://www.reach4salem.org/

HOMELESSNESS

When The Money Ends, So Does Your Normal Life.

When the small business become taxed higher, you will see a lot more Homeless People on the streets. The two years of employment is coming to an end and, in Salem, Oregon a lot of new faces are looking for help and joining the Homeless Race. As jobs disappear the only jobs will be Government and so called nonprofits that pay their top members big money.

No body can help the Men and Women Homeless race unless you can get them a job. I have been Homeless for almost two years, living in my car at Walmart. I know for a fact the Homeless will never recover without help. To see the steps needed for the Homeless to get off the streets go to http://www.reach4salem.org/

Our Government gets their money from tax payers, without jobs who will be taxed?

“Helping the Homeless step by step”

Living In A Fourth World  Each year you see more Homeless. How many times has the donation dollar really help a Homeless Veteran or any Homeless from receiving the help they need to overcome the reason why they are homeless in the first place? Shelters and Missions are good for 60 days and then you’re on your own. The definition of a Homeless person is; vagabond, vagrant, drifter, beggar, hobo, bum, tramp, disgraceful and homeless.Human beings are forced to live below animal standards, because the needs of a human are far greater then that of an animal. The Homeless do not live in a third world; they live in a “fourth world”, inside the United States of America. A third world nation allows the poor to live in their  shacks. How could anybody with one or two sets of clothing, shoes with no transportation and facilities, no free place to sleep, be expected to keep clean and find a job?  Each year you see more Homeless. How many times has the donation dollar really help a Homeless Veteran or any Homeless person from receiving the help they need to overcome the reason why they are homeless in the first place? The Homeless deserve a chance to become stable and, employed. The Homeless should have a place to live in each city with the minimum needs of a human, to camp harassment free. The Homeless should have the right to work, that can or will work. Without transportation provided by the City busses, during the hours of swing, graveyard sifts and, weekends the chances are very slim without transportation to get any type of interview or job that becomes available.   Most of the Homeless Men and Woman have mental issues that keep them from getting a job and, they should be evaluated by a State agency or Private sector to determine the Homeless person’s state of mind. These issues should include Mental, Physical, dependency of alcohol, legal prescription and, illegal drugs.   I believe 90 per cent of the Homeless have a disorder of some sort that keeps them from finding work. I believe every person should have a place of their own to call home, free from City and State Ordnance. We are the first nonprofit, to design a way to help with the burden of the Homeless in cities, business and homeowners. The idea involves an invitation to the Homeless, to better their self through pride, encouragement, food, shelter, and relaxation for the day, through the word of mouth.  We will not force anybody to attend meetings or stop any habit they may have. Our goal is to show it’s possible for them to become a working class member of society if they want it.  Looking for help to land a job requires training. Training requires self confidence, mentally and physically. Self confidence requires knowledge, clothing, appearance, food, housing, transportation and support groups. All help must be located in one place in order for the client to focus. Sometimes, adjusting back to "normal" life again can bring countless challenges.

There would be no competition to compete with Reach 4 Salem. As a Corporation, an umbrella of businesses will be formed to employ the Homeless with the tools needed and training to run a LLC Business with a paid income.

According to a PBS broadcast, the taxpayer pays $200,000 per Homeless person in medical bills in the expansion of eighteen months. The Burdon of Tax Payers, Police, Courts and, County Housing will be cut drastically. Helping the Homeless step by step will, Reach 4 Salem, Keizer and the surrounding communities. Each Homeless person cost the tax payer a lot more than $200,000 Reach 4 Salem must get started to get our Homeless back to work.

We need your experience in getting started

1. We need God our Lord Christ 2. We need to know that He created us in His own image 3. We need two commandments that cover all---Love thy God with all our might and Love thy neighbor as thy self 4.We need to give in order to receive 5.We need to overcome the world 6. We need to ask Jesus into our life.

Homeless, Jobless

I believe 90 per cent of the Homeless have a disorder of some sort that keeps them from finding work. I believe every person should have a place of their own to call home, free from City and State Ordnance.

Other disorder; going through garbage for income. Not wanting, being told what to do. Committed a crime, Not having a place to live without the Police making you move somewhere else, Family problems, child support, divorce, other Homeless stealing your belongings. Feeling sorry for yourself, Getting beat-up. Loosing your vehicle because no insurance. There are many reasons for a mental disorder as there are people. Do you think living in the streets is normal behavior? When you’re out in the streets there are very few people you can trust.

Fourth World Living on the Streets

Living In A Fourth World Each year you see more Homeless People in the streets and you could be next. Let’s say you have lost your job and the employment check will end soon, and you have not found a job yet. You save all your belongings in storage and you have run out of money. Nobody can afford to house and feed you anymore or pay your bills, where will you go?  Everything on your back and in your pockets is all you have. Where do you eat, shower and, sleep? If your car is paid and your insurance is paid, you can sleep in your car. Sleeping in your car is illegal in the streets.    How many times has the donation dollar really help a Homeless Men, Women, and Veterans from receiving the help they need to overcome the reason why they are homeless in the first place? The Homeless deserve a chance to become stable and, become employed. The Homeless should have a place to live in each city with the minimum needs of a human, to camp harassment free. The Homeless should have the right to work, that can or will work. Without transportation provided by the City busses during the hours of swing, graveyard sifts and, weekends the chances are very slim without a car for a person to get any type of job that becomes available. Employers ask if you have a reliable transportation and, that does not mean public busses. Not only is it against the law to be Homeless, it’s against the law to help the Homeless in some states. There is no place for the Homeless to live legally without paying. If the Homeless could pay, they would not be Homeless. Do you see a mental obstacle yet?

Most of the Homeless Men and Woman have mental issues that keep them from getting a job and, they should be evaluated by a State agency or Private sector to determine the Homeless person’s state of mind. These issues should include Mental, Physical, dependency of legal prescription, illegal drugs and, alcohol.

A person can only have one Master.

This is a one-on-one personal relationship with God.

In a private space, at your own time, is the best time to ask Jesus to come into you and change Your Life, by asking for forgiveness you are clean.

When you ask Jesus to come into your life, He Will. By asking Him is pure faith in Him . No matter what you have done or what you will do again, Your job is to stay clean and lean on Him. As you walk with God sometimes you will stumble, each time you stumble, you ask Him for forgiveness. Jesus knows  how sincere you are and you limitations. He will work with you and in turn He asks you to believe in Him and grow. Amen

Homeless People by David A. Herrera

 reach4salem.org

R.E.A.C.H. 4 SALEM LOCATED IN SALEM, OREGON   Making Salem/Keizer a better place for all  CHANGE A HOMELESS LIFE DONATE     HERE IS WHY "REACH" IS IMPORTANT TO ALL OF US.  Our main goal is to integrate as many of the Homeless people that want to get back into the main stream of society as possible. With donations from you, together we can start a new generation of help for the unfortunate and give the tools needed to do so. This will take a huge amount of time and donations.  Most people do not start at the top. This would be the same problem Reach 4  Salem will have to reach our goal. By starting out as a Family Thrift Store that meets the basic needs of the Homeless Men and Woman. A Thrift Store that would serve as a trust between the Homeless and, the Community. By giving seasonal protection to the Homeless that are in need, is a true blessing.  The Homeless are in the need of coats, shirts, socks, underwear, shoes for both Men and Women, on a regular basis. These basic needs are more important to a Homeless person than food during the winter months. Being Homeless is much more than people realize. First Impressions ?To return into the work force, the applicant must dress "properly" for that position they are seeking. The applicant may require A; resume, shower, shave new cloths, shoes, hair-do, make-up, bows and ribbons for some, phone and, reliable transportation. The average Homeless person does not have a chance or the resources to look their best everyday. Transportation is; walking, bicycling or bus. This is a problem that must be solved to benefit the job seeker(s) and, our community’s burden. Training a person or brushing up for the position always requires people who know-how and, can train for, That  desired position. Knowing the community is helping you and, not looking down on you, makes a big difference in a person’s confidents. To feel good about "you", is the best feeling one person can have. Can you volunteer / help with proper attire, training, resumes, phones, transportation?       Do you know how to obtain; grants, legal advice, vehicles, supplies needed?   If You Can   We as a community may not be able to help all of the Homeless needs, although we can help those who want help. Head off those who are becoming homeless. There are many reasons why a person becomes homeless. Since this situation of poverty is growing, today the trust of our two types of society in one city can cause mistrust for both in different ways. Reach will be, that link needed, to show the Homeless, the possibility is real, when the resources are all there, for you to get back on your feet, are all in one place. That feeling of hope, through the generosity that is coming from the people in the surrounding Cities and Counties, just for you. Someday this will become reality.      Restoring Encouraging Adults Community Homeless    1 John 2:15     Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. My Story

My Story, Why I’m Homeless  I was fired from my job at an apartment complex in 2008, because I was passed-up from a promotion and, I got angry after a month without being told if I had this maintenance II position. For four years I was passed-up because, I was too important in the position I was at. This position was, cleaning offices, bathrooms, gym, painting interior and, maintenance in the apartments, plus sweeping the grounds, painting curbs, and power washing the exterior. I was already experienced for this position. It would not have mattered to me to keep doing the same job, the title and pay raise was what I was after. I found out if I got the promotion the day I saw the new Hire.  It was the beginning of a new year I was fired. I had enough money to get alone until unemployment would kick-in. When it did, I bought a Motor home, moved into a campsite for a year. I found a job that knocked out the second year of employment checks. I made less at this new job and, was dropped down in employment money. I could not pay for rent; foods etc. forced to put everything I owned in storage and live in my car.  I feel blessed by the Father that these changes in my life happened.I will never look at a homeless person the same way, I had before.
